No photos allowed. Oops. I took one.

If Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver, Colorado looks like it hasn't been updated since 1908, that's because, well... it probably hasn't. Trees grow through the pavement, buildings stand a bit crooked and the rides are as rickity now as they were 100 years ago. Evening crowds are on the sketchy side, and despite all the cool architectural photo ops, management does not take kindly to photographers, and will approach you if they see you framing a shot.

Still, Lakeside is a must-see for fans of classic amusement parks. It's a treasure of Americana, frozen in time. And as it was yesteryear, admission is only a couple of bucks (sometimes free if the gate person is feeling lazy). Walk the boardwalk, play some games, have some park food, then ride the Cyclone coaster and vomit it up. Good times.

Just keep that camera on the down low.

Visit them at Lakeside Amusement Park.
